The StepFood Wives Blog is a bit of fun where we can share our trials and tribulations establishing and running a new business. Guess it will expand into other things as time goes on..you never know, it could become a Julie and Julia sensation (Ha Ha).

The Eighth Wonder of the World

    Victoria Bowring - Sunday, July 18, 2010
Two years ago I gave birth to the Eighth Wonder of the World!

I didn’t realise it at the time (that she was the 8th wonder I mean – believe me I definitely realised I’d given birth!), it wasn’t until last week it became apparent.

Charli and I sat down to lunch (mine), and before I’d even reached for the cutlery, she leaned over my plate shouting “Taste! Taste!”

I offered her chicken – “No!” Then tomato, pumpkin and mushroom –
    “No, no, no!”

She then pointed at the plate and shouted “that!”

Right then and there she became the Eighth Wonder – i.e. the only 2 year old I’d ever seen ask their mother for a brussel sprout! I couldn’t believe my eyes as she polished off every last one.

She’s been doing the same with my breakfast for weeks. Every morning I have to double the amount of muesli and natural yoghurt I put in my bowl as it’s become, “One for me, one for you”.

Our kids are social little human beings just like their grown up parents, and if we enjoy eating socially it’s only natural that they do too. I know it’s difficult when your juggling kids, work, the house and the spouse, but every now and then make some time to sit down and share a [your] meal with your kids. If it’s on your plate they’re bound to want it.

Imagine what your fussy little eater might dare to try!

    And remember -
Even if their tiny tummies get nothing new, nothing feeds their heart and soul like time with you.

    Bye for now!
